Jared Smith: 1:1 Personal Transformation Session
Background:
Jared Smith has dedicated most of his career building businesses and advising senior leaders in high-growth, purpose-driven organizations. For the last 20 years, Jared acted as co-founder and Senior Advisor of Incite, a group of marketing-related companies he sold in 2019. Jared has since worked as an investor and advisor to various leading North American-based organizations.
Jared has an intense interest in community-building. He is the Past-President of the Entrepreneurs Organization, the Chair of the Peter Lougheed Leadership College, sits on the Advisory Council for the University of Alberta School of Business, and is a Lululemon Ambassador.
Jared loves traveling the world and seeking adventure with his wife Jessica and two children, Maddie and Kai, and he has a passion for fitness. He is a 3rd Degree Blackbelt in Karate, is an active boxer, and recently led, organized, and endured a year-long training simulation with US Navy SEALs.
Situation:
In 2021, Jared felt increasingly detached from his work and relationships. Over the past 5 years, Jared lost his sister to cancer, his father to a sudden illness, and sold his business. All of this tremendous change was taking a toll, and Jared found himself searching for techniques to process his grief and new strategies to work through his major career transition.
Outcome:
Within the first few minutes of our session, Amit and Kumar launched into deep, insightful questions and dialogue about various aspects of my life. Time slipped by as we plunged into the depths of who I was, what was meaningful to me, and what my highest values were.
At no time did I feel judged or scrutinized - they both had a gentle but firm approach that was surprisingly refreshing. Throughout my career and life, I’ve worked with various coaches, advisors, consultants, and counselors - however, this experience was unlike anything I have experienced before.
I admit I was somewhat skeptical heading into the session, but my time with them was genuinely transformative in hindsight. I now have a variety of new paradigms, epiphanies, insights, and models from which to draw. My challenges and difficulties haven’t disappeared, but my approach to them has completely changed. I see them for what they are vs. what I was making them out to be. And this is making a world of difference in my life and my career.
